Studies Academic Advising
The academic advisory service is the point of contact for all questions relating to studying sociology at the Max Weber Institute.
In particular, it offers advice on questions concerning
- on applying, enrolling and transferring
- on changing subjects or universities
- on study requirements
- on the content and structure of the programme
- on study planning and progression
- on regulations in the examination regulations and the module handbook
- on other points of contact and support services (e.g. studying with children, inclusive studying, psychosocial counselling centre, career service, UNIFY – compatibility, diversity, equality and anti-discrimination)
In addition to certifying that academic counselling has been provided, the academic counselling service also issues certificates, e.g.
- for classification into a higher semester
- for registration for the Master's minor subject Sociology
- for further funding under BAföG (Form 5)

in connection with the extension of residence permits for international students
Academic advising is available during the lecture period without appointment during regular office hours on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. In individual cases, a separate appointment can be arranged.
