Bachelor Internships
Internships in the Sociology Degree Program
Within the framework of the B.A. program, a mandatory internship of at least 8 weeks must be completed in accordance with the examination regulations. This should take place during the lecture-free period. For an internship during the lecture period, a semester of leave (Urlaubssemester) can also be applied for.
A certificate stating that the internship is a mandatory internship or an academic requirement will be issued upon request by the Examination Secretariat (

).Within the framework of the M.A. program, an internship can be recognized as an achievement. (This no longer applies in the examination regulations of June 19, 2024, valid from Winter Semester 2024-25).

- Completion of an internship lasting at least 8 weeks or comprising at least 300 hours (37.5 hours/week), e.g., in the case of part-time work or working student activities (Werkstudententätigkeit).
- Splitting it into two or more internships is possible.
- The internship should have a relevance to sociology.
- Unskilled or auxiliary tasks ((Aus-)Hilfstätigkeiten) are generally excluded from recognition.
- Activity as a student research assistant (wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft) can be recognized; activity as a tutor can be recognized after two independently conducted tutorials and attendance of a tutor training course.
- After completion of the internship, a 1-2 page short report must be written and submitted together with an internship certificate/reference (Praktikumszeugnis). The short report is ungraded.
