Examination Administration
The responsible body for all examination matters is the Sociology Examination Board (the composition of the faculty bodies and committees can be viewed here).
Applications to the Examination Board must generally be submitted in writing, stating student details and bearing a signature, to the attention of Mr. Peter Abelmann or Ms. Lydia Ponier-Kröhl.

Please always use your student email account for inquiries regarding examination matters. In every email, please indicate your matriculation number and the degree program to which your inquiry relates.
Final Reflection in the BA Minor in Sociology
Registration in heiCO is not required for the Final Reflection (Module BA B7). A document must be created according to the content specifications of the Module Handbook; there are no formatting specifications for this. The corresponding document, including personal details and matriculation number, must be sent by email to the Examination Administration (

).Recognition and Crediting of Achievements
The basis for recognition and crediting are the Statutes of Heidelberg University regulating the procedure for the recognition and crediting of achievements as well as the respective §§ of the Examination Regulations (Bachelor or Master degree program).
Applications for recognition and/or crediting of achievements must be submitted in writing (informal), stating student details and bearing a signature, along with corresponding attachments/proofs.
Application for Admission to the Bachelor and Master Examination (BA/MA Thesis)
The respective application form is available for download. Send the original application for admission by post or drop it in Ms. Ponier-Kröhl's mailbox. Attach the proofs required by the Examination Regulations to the application. You can obtain the Transcript of Records from the Examination Secretariat; you must print the "Studienverlauf" (Course of Study) document yourself via heiCO.
Medical Certificates
- For courses: Please submit directly to the lecturers promptly.
- For written exams: Please submit promptly to Ms. Ponier-Kröhl. The following must be noted: Matriculation No., Degree Program, Date, and Name of the Exam. You may also transmit the certificate as a very legible PDF document with all required details via email.

Written Exam / Examination Registration
Students register for the written exam/examination online via heiCO during the registration period and observe the notes under the next point.
Exam Dates for Lectures / Examination Dates for Seminars
Exam dates and registration periods are announced via heiCO and can be viewed in the course description under the link “Details” in the section “Examination dates & registration” (Prüfungstermine & Anmeldung).
Tip: If you register for the exam via your curriculum ("My Studies"), you can immediately select a free examination node (Prüfungsknoten). This facilitates exam registration.
For Bachelor courses, two examination dates are created:
- 6 ECTS, graded
- 2 ECTS, ungraded
For Master courses, three examination dates are created:
- 6 ECTS, graded
- 4 ECTS, graded
- 2 ECTS, ungraded
Please make sure to register for the correct examination with the desired examination node.
Module Examinations in the Master's Program PO Version 20161
Formal registration for the module examination in heiCO is not required. The form and subject of the examination must be clarified bilaterally with an examiner authorized to conduct examinations.

Documents do not have to be handed in personally but can be thrown into the mailbox on the 2nd floor or into the bottom left outdoor mailbox of the MWI.
Transcript of Records
A Transcript of Records can be requested from the Examination Administration or generated yourself in heiCO (see below). (Sending as a PDF file is possible and preferred, but this is only necessary in exceptional cases.)
Transcripts can be printed out in heiCO yourself: Go to the tile “My Achievements” (Meine Leistungen) and then click on the small icon that looks like a sheet of paper at the top center left (next to “Filter”); then you can download the transcript.
Recording of Examination Achievements
Examination achievements are recorded exclusively online in heiCO. This also applies to achievements from other subjects/departments (fachfremde Leistungen). If necessary, please contact the external institute where you completed the achievement.
- Classic paper certificates (Scheine) are only issued and accepted in exceptional cases. These must be stamped/sealed to be recorded.
- External achievements are registered in heiCO as “free registration” (freie Anmeldung) and transmitted via heiCO. Please observe the regulations of the external institute.
Once the grade is available, please contact the Examination Administration stating the module so that the external achievement can be recorded.
International Students
