Corruption, Democracy | ESG (Environmental Social Governance) | Caring Communities
The focus of my research lies in the analysis of formal and informal institutions, together with organizations, mainly from political science and sociological perspectives. My general purpose is to comprehend how socially responsible institutions and organizations can be designed.
I mainly work on the promotion of democracy and the fight against corruption, examining how different actors in specific socio-political contexts understand these processes and practices, including their points of agreements, disagreements, tensions and how these processes inform institutional designs and organizational practices in effectively achieving these goals. Questions about integrity, accountability and democratic participation also support my recent work on ESG and caring communities.
The core of my postdoctoral research (Habilitation) is the critical analysis of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals. In this line of work, I study how diverse social groups debate norms, rules and the organizational strategies in the energy sector, as well as how corporations respond to these social claims, with particular emphasis on the organizational and institutional challenges of articulating the positions of share and stakeholders.
At the same time, as part of my work within civil society organizations, I am designing a project on caring communities. Here, I examine how local communities and organizations develop strategies to care for vulnerable groups, focusing on the challenges of building sustainable networks of interpersonal and organizational collaboration, the ways in which actors can be both receivers and givers of care, and the role played by institutions in these practices.
