Prof. Dr. Adalbert Evers

Adalbert Evers, Dr. rer. pol., was Professor of Comparative Health and Social Policy at Justus Liebig University Giessen from 1993 to 2013. Prior to this position, Dr. Evers, who received his doctorate from the University of Bremen in 1977 and his habilitation from the University of Frankfurt in 1988 with a thesis on “Dealing with Uncertainty,” worked at the European Centre for Social Welfare in Vienna from 1983 to 1993, among other places. He conducted research and guest stays at the School of Social Policy at the University of Manchester, the Institute for Social Sciences (University of Frankfurt), the Institute for Human Sciences (Vienna), the Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Birmingham, and Ersta Sköndal University College Stockholm. Dr. Evers' work focuses on social services in the field of health and social policy. It primarily examines the role of third sector organizations and research on the relationship between civil society, civic engagement, and democratic governance. More recent work in this context has focused on the role of social innovations. He serves as an expert advisor to German and international committees, including the German Bundestag's Enquete Commission on the Future of Civic Engagement (2002).

Prof. Dr. Andreas Schröer

Andreas Schröer has been Professor of Organizational Education at the University of Trier since 2017. Prior to that, he worked as Professor of Nonprofit Management at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt from 2012 to 2017. There, he was Director of the Institute for Future Issues in Health and Social Services (04/2013 - 03/2017), Managing Professor of the Department of Continuing Education (10/2013-03/2017) and Dean of the Department of Continuing Education/School of Professional Studies (04/2014-01/2017). Before his time in Darmstadt, Andreas Schröer researched and taught at Portland State University, first as Assistant Professor of Public Administration (09/2009-06/2012), then as Associate Director at the Institute for Nonprofit Management (02/2012-06/2012) and as Associate Director at the Center for Public Service (06/2011-06/2012), and from 07/2012 to 06/2014 as Associate Professor of Public Administration. From 2003 to 2006, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Education at the University of Erlangen. From 2004 to 2005, he was also a visiting fellow at the Center on Adolescence (PI: Bill Damon) at Stanford University. There, he conducted research on good work in the nonprofit sector. Andreas Schröer's work focuses on topics related to leadership and organizational development in the nonprofit sector, evaluation and impact measurement, and education in civil society. He is a member of various academic organizations (German, European, and American Societies for Educational Science).

Dr. Ekkehard Thümler

Ekkehard Thümler was Project Director at CSI (2008-2016).

Ekkehard Thümler is the founder and CEO of the EdTech company Tutoring for All (www.tutoringforall.de).

Mr. Thümler has held leading positions at the Joachim Herz Foundation, Bertelsmann Foundation, Baden-Württemberg Foundation, and Vodafone Foundation. At CSI, he led an international research program on social innovation through philanthropic organizations.

His research focuses on social impact and innovation as well as system transformation, particularly in the areas of education and school development. He received his doctorate from Heidelberg University with a thesis on impact and innovation strategies of philanthropic organizations.
