Research Sociological theories and social history

The research area of Sociological Theory and History of Sociology examines the key classical and contemporary theoretical approaches within the discipline, pursuing a systematic programme of the history of theory.

In doing so, it takes into account the full range of theoretical approaches within sociology. Traditionally, a focus has been placed on the further development of the Weberian paradigm through a systematic explication and updating of the central terms and concepts of Weberian sociology. Other key areas of focus include current theoretical debates, cultural-sociological approaches, and historical-sociological constellation analyses.
