Internationale Studierende
General information
You can complete either a full degree program with the corresponding qualification or a short-term study program if you are already enrolled in sociology or a related subject at a foreign university. The latter also includes study visits as part of an exchange program such as ERASMUS.
Information regarding your application or admission can be found on the website of the Department of International Relations. Here you will also find general information for international applicants.
The general admission requirements for the program are proof of German language proficiency and a university entrance qualification. For the MA program, a first degree in sociology or a degree with a focus on social sciences, completed with a grade of at least “good,” is also required. The formal assessment is the responsibility of the Department of International Relations, while the academic assessment is the responsibility of the Sociology Admissions Committee.
If you are planning an ERASMUS stay at the MWI, apply for an ERASMUS scholarship from the relevant subject coordinator at your home university. This requires an ERASMUS partnership between your home institution and the MWI. Further information on ERASMUS studies in Heidelberg can be found here.
Possible degrees
If you are interested in a complete degree program, you can pursue this either as part of the undergraduate bachelor's program or as part of the consecutive master's program.
You can find more detailed information about these two degree programs in the Study section.
